Pet Life

Celebrating Your Pet's Life

If you are a cat or dog owner, and your pet passes or is about to pass away, there are different ways to celebrate the life that they have spent with you. The first step is to contact Dr. Lorraine Watson at Dr 4 Pets. We provide service to those living in the Thousand Oaks, Porter Ranch, and Canoga Park, CA areas. Pet euthanasia is a difficult process for pet owners, however, there are ways to remember your dog or cat's life in the days and years after they leave your side.

Prepare for Pet Euthanasia Beforehand

If you know your pet's life is soon to end, pet euthanasia can be performed in your own home. Our caring veterinarian is there every step of the way to ensure your pet remains comfortable as the procedure is administered. We encourage you to be there with your pet during this process. This allows you to have time to say your goodbyes, and your pet will feel safe and at ease during his or her last moments.

Consider Holding A Memorial for Your Pet

After your pet has passed away, hold a memorial service with family members or close friends to commemorate your dog or cat's life. This can be done at a pet cemetery or on your property. If you are burying your pet's body or ashes, pick out a place where you can sit down and visit whenever you have the desire to do so. If your pet's remains are resting on your property, select an area that your pet particularly enjoyed looking at or visiting.

Prepare an Area for Reflection

Designate an area in your home where you can spend time looking at objects that remind you of your pet. This can include photographs, toys, or an urn with your pet's ashes displayed for all to see.

Contact Dr. Lorraine Watson at Dr 4 Pets if pet euthanasia is needed. We are available for those in the Thousand Oaks, Porter Ranch, and Canoga Park, CA areas. Call us today at (805) 494-3339 for more information about our in-home euthanasia services.
